Walk/Run/Wheel Together: Brickell

As a community, we must take steps towards normalizing the inclusion of athletes of diverse abilities in the various sporting events and activities taking place in Miami. One way to include athletes in the narrative is by making events as inclusive as possible. ThumbsUp International, together with the Brickell Run Club powered by Nike+ Run Club, will bring athletes of diverse abilities to participate in a weekly running activity taking place in the Brickell area. This event will be done with a focus on inclusivity, so please come as you are and run/walk/wheel with us!

Sound the Alarm - Goulds

The Red Cross is bringing together locals who would like to volunteer and work alongside fire departments, and other local groups, to provide smoke alarm services. Attendees will get to know local heroes by being a part of this connection experience. You will also have the opportunity to visit homes that are at-risk for home fires to install free smoke alarms, replace batteries in existing alarms, and educate families about fire prevention and safety.

HistoryMiami Museum is bringing the South Florida community together for a walking tour of Downtown Miami with Resident Historian, Dr. Paul George to learn the origin of this bustling part of our city. In this connection experience, you will have the opportunity to delve into the storied past of Downtown Miami as you walk along historic Flagler Street and learn the history of Miami’s founders – Julia Tuttle, Henry Flagler, and William and Mary Brickell. You will even have the opportunity to hear tales of the area’s earliest known inhabitants, the Tequesta, as you view the Miami River.
